Marvin X at rally for Imam Jamil Al Amin, Bobby Hutton Park, Oakland, 2016

On Sept.16th, 2016 communities across the country gathered in solidarity with the National Day of Action to Exonerate & Free Imam Jamil Al-Amin fka H. Rap Brown. In Oakland the Oakland Islamic Community Center in association with Imam Jamil Action Network IJAN held Jummah Prayer & a Rally @ Lil Bobby Hutton Park (Defremery) in West Oakland during the day and had an evening "work meeting" program @ OICC in East Oakland. The night event included video clips showing the evolution of H.Rap Brown to Imam Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin, personal community letter writing to the Imam, updates on his case and freedom campaign & more! Alhumdulilah we were able to raise financial resources for IJAN and increase awareness of his legacy and current situation. Imam Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin will be free Inshaa'Allah!
